Together we are part of the Sustainable Salons NZ Program, every appointment you pay $2 towards helping the planet. Your fee ensures the 'waste' created from your hair service is repurposed, even your hair, so it doesn't have a negative environmental impact.
We charge based on the number of hours booked with the hair artist. The minimum appointment time is a 1 hour session. Possible services we can provide in a session are only a guide on the website & price-list, so please get in touch for accurate session timings for what you require. Common Thread has an annual price adjustment on April 1st. Every April, our suppliers slightly increase pricing along with government requirements as inflationary pressures increase costs for everyone.

Our team's time is their livelihood, and as a small studio, last-minute cancellations have a massive effect on our business.
We kindly ask you to cancel or reschedule your appointment 24 hours before your booking. Anything less than 24hours before your session, and you'll be subject to being charged 50% of your scheduled time as a LATE CANCELLATION FEE. Please note your deposit is non-refundable.
We hate to have to enforce this policy and sincerely hope you understand our need to do so.
THERE IS NO GUARANTEE WHEN PERFORMING A CHEMICAL SERVICE
Whether lightening, darkening or seeking coverage of a home or professional colour, permed or relaxed, all these services present their own risk. Past applications are still present in your hair until it is cut off. Even mineral deposits from bore water, pipes, medications and our body's condition can contribute to how your hair reacts.
REVISIT REWORK WITHIN 7 DAYS NO REFUND POLICY
Our mission is to ensure you are 100% satisfied because everyone wants to feel beautiful and confident.
If you're not satisfied with our service, please let us know within 7 days. We will do everything in our power to make it right and ensure you are delighted with the result. If you have any questions about our work, please call us right away. We're driven to help you express the real you and want you to look and feel badass; we will make the necessary adjustments. So that you'll always love your hair, we offer revisit's rework, no monetary refunds.
OPEN STYLIST POLICY
We are a professional team, and we are pleased to have guests work with all team members. If you want a new point of view or want to try another team member, let us know! We would love to accommodate you in any way we can.
Please note that our hair artists and alchemists run on a very tight schedule. Therefore, when you are late for a session, this affects every session after yours. If you are late, you will be charged for the missed time, or if we cannot complete your session in the time available, you will have to be rescheduled. Common Thread also reserves the right to charge up to 50% of the session time if you need to be rescheduled.
CHILD SAFETY POLICY
We understand how challenging it is to find time for yourself. We also understand that your “me time” does not always align with your hair sessions. We love seeing your children and watching them grow, but at the same time, we must enforce a Child Safety Policy at Common Thread. We kindly request that children no longer accompany parents/or others to the studio during lengthy salon sessions. Only children RECEIVING services may be present in our service areas. Children capable of sitting quietly and unsupervised may wait in the provided seating area*. While this policy helps ensure that all guests enjoy a relaxing salon experience, it was created with your child’s safety in mind. Our salon is not child-proof. Sharp instruments, hot styling tools, chemicals, and a busy, congested area makes for a potentially dangerous environment for your young children. We greatly appreciate your compliance with our Child Safety Policy.
CHANGE OF HEART POLICY
We understand that sometimes a certain look just isn’t for you. However, if you change your mind, you will need to pay to have the service(s) redone. We do not offer monetary refunds as we want you to be happy with your look, and we can’t get back the time we spent creating that look for you. If you are not satisfied with our service, please let us know within 7 days. We will do everything in our power to make it right and ensure you are delighted with the result. Redos are determined by the original stylist on a case-by-case basis.
PRE-APPOINTMENT HAIR WASHING ETIQUETTE
We kindly ask that your hair has been washed a minimum of 48-24 hours before your appointment, & you arrive with your hair dry - not wet. Sorry, hot damp hair straight from the gym is a definite no-no - take a few minutes to give it a wash and dry.
The tools used by your hair artist will be cleaned appropriately between each guest. After you leave the studio, we clean the area where you were seated with environmentally friendly products ready for our next guest.
Haircare products can be returned up to 2 weeks after the purchase date for an exchange as long as they are unused.
